Easy Dairy-Free Frosting Recipe

A smooth, fluffy dairy-free frosting made with plant-based butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and non-dairy milk. It’s easy to make and perfect for frosting cakes and cupcakes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup 226 g Country Crock Plant Butter Sticks, softened but still cool
  • 4 cups 480 g powdered sugar, sifted if lumpy
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 to 3 tablespoons almond milk or another non-dairy milk

Instructions

  • Place the softened plant butter in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment.
  • Beat on medium speed for 1 to 2 minutes, until smooth and creamy.
  • Add the powdered sugar one cup at a time, mixing on low speed after each addition.
  • Add the vanilla extract and one tablespoon of oat milk.
  • Continue adding oat milk one teaspoon at a time until the frosting reaches your desired consistency.
  • Increase the mixer to medium-high speed and beat for 1 to 2 minutes, until light and fluffy.
  • Use immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Notes

This recipe makes enough frosting for about 12 generously frosted cupcakes, 24 lightly frosted cupcakes, one 9 x 13-inch cake, or a lightly frosted two-layer cake.
