Why Make Your Own Cinnamon Chips?

Limited Availability: Cinnamon chips may not be readily available at all grocery stores, especially if you live in a region where specialty baking ingredients are hard to come by. By making your own, you have full control over the ingredients and can enjoy them whenever the craving strikes.

Satisfaction of Homemade: There's something incredibly satisfying about creating your own baking chips from scratch. Homemade cinnamon chips allow you to customize the flavor and shape to your liking.

Economical Option: Purchasing store-bought chips can be costly. Making them at home allows you to save money while still indulging in the sweet, cinnamon-infused goodness.

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Your Workspace: Line a cookie sheet with a sheet of parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Melt the Candy Melts: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the candy melts in 30-second increments until they are smooth and creamy. Stir between each round of heating to distribute the chips and ensure even melting.
  3. Add Cinnamon Flavor: Once melted, add the cinnamon and the optional cinnamon oil and mix thoroughly. Adjust the amount of cinnamon oil to suit your taste preferences.
  4. Pour and Chill: Pour the cinnamon-flavored candy melt mixture onto the prepared baking sheet. Use a spatula to spread it into an even layer, about ⅛ inch thick. Place the baking sheet in the freezer for about 30 minutes, or until the candy melt mixture has hardened completely.
  5. Break into Chips: Once hardened, remove the baking sheet from the freezer. Use a large knife or a pizza cutter to break the hardened candy melt mixture into small, chip-sized small pieces. (If it's too hard to cut, wait 8-10 minutes for the chocolate to soften and try again)
  6. Store and Enjoy: Transfer the homemade cinnamon chips to an airtight container and store them at room temperature until ready to use. Enjoy them on their own as a snack or incorporate them into your favorite recipes for an extra burst of cinnamon flavor.
